Nele Matz-Lück

Prof. Dr. Nele Matz-Lück, LL.M. is professor at Kiel University Law School where she has a chair for Public Law with a focus on Public International Law, particularly the Law of the Sea. Since 2011 she is co-director of the Walther Schücking Institute for International Law at Kiel University. From 2020-2022 she served as the university’s Vice President for International Affairs, Young Researchers, Equality and Diversity. She is adjunct professor at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada, since 2014 and member of the Regional Constitutional Court of Schleswig-Holstein since 2018. She has been admitted to the list of arbitrators at the Permanent Court of Arbitration at The Hague for disputes arising under the Environmental Protocol to the Antarctic Treaty and to the list of arbitrators and conciliators under Annex V and VII of the UNCLOS. Other nominations include one as Judge ad hoc for the European Court of Human Rights. Previous academic positions include an adjunct professorship at the K.G. Jebsen Centre on the Law of the Sea at the Arctic University of Norway in Tromsø and senior research fellowship at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg, Germany.
