Dr.jur. Petros Patronos is a Lawyer at Hellenic Supreme Court (Athens Bar Association), Legal Advisor on environmental and climate law issues. He is Member of the World Commission on Environmental Law (IUCN). He has been working and researching in the field of (international) environmental law for more than thirty years, both on theoretical and methodological aspects as well as on practical issues of implementation and compliance (1990-present). Petros Patronos was Advisor of the Hellenic Ministry of the Environment (1998-2004) and Tutor of Environmental Law in the Hellenic National School of Public Administration and in the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens-Postgraduate Courses (2000-2008). He developed and updated a Database on Environmental Legislation and Case Law, covering international, EU and national legal provisions and containing more than five thousand legal documents, including one hundred and seventy own legal opinions (2007-2021). He is author of the book “The conceptual approach in international environmental law” (1996, in German), co-editor and co-author of the books “The Implementation of the Espoo Convention. A Hellenic Approach” (2002) and “Protection from infectious diseases. International, EC and national legal provisions” (2004, in Greek). From 1998-2005 he was member of the Editorial Board of the Environmental Law Journal “Law & Nature” and from 1993-1996 external research associate in the MPIL-Heidelberg.
