Dr Sabine Brels is an international lawyer working for advancing animal and environmental protection worldwide. Having a Law Degree from Montpellier University (France), with a Master (LLM) and Doctorate (LLD) from Laval University in Quebec (Canada), she worked several years as a consultant on species protection for various organizations around the world (WWF international, CIRAD, French Institute on Biodiversity, University of California Berkeley, Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity) and co-founded the Global Animal Law (GAL) NGO she codirected during 7 years before becoming Legal Advisor at the World Federation for Animals (WFA) in 2021.
Her work focuses on the ways to advance animal protection internationally and in particular at the United Nations (UN), in consideration of the interlinkages with human and environmental protections.
